AIChE Annual Meeting
We are delighted to announce that Prof. Matthias Thommes has been awarded the prestigious Clarence (Larry) G. Gerhold Award by the Separation Division of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) at the 2025 AIChE Annual Meeting! This highly esteemed award recognizes outstanding progress in the area of separation technology. In connection with the award, Prof. Thommes presented an invited Plenary Lecture titled: “Insights into the Adsorption and Phase Behaviour of Fluids in Nanoporous Materials: Towards an Advanced Textural and Surface Characterization”
In addition, the Institute of Separation Science and Technology contributed significantly to the meeting with two additional presentations showcasting the latest research in advanced materials characterization:
Prof. Thommes presented current research results on the “Effect of confinement on the characterization of nanoporous materials by NMR relaxometry” (authors: C. Vorndran, L. Sandner, A. Schuss, M. Thommes)
One talk “Advanced Textural Characterization of Carbon Molecular Sieves Complementing the Development of Material Structure and Process Performance Correlations” (authors: A. Marcinek, C. Vorndran, M. Thommes) at AIChE was dedicated to our ongoing collaboration with Carbotech, Essen and was presented by Dr. Aleksandra Marcinek (CarboTech).
