One of the most influential meetings in the field of preparative chromatography, the biennial SPICA 2018 (17th International Symposium on Preparative and Industrial Chromatography and Allied Techniques), took place in Darmstadt (Germany), October 7th – 10th. SPICA 2018 was co-chaired by Prof. Malte Kaspereit  together with Dr. Eric Francotte (FrancotteConsulting, Basel/Switzerland). About 200 experts from academia and industry joined a top-class program with 7 Keynotes, 35 oral presentations, 66 posters, and 4 workshops, covering all relevant current research fields of preparative chromatography. Johannes Schmölder, M.Sc., from the Institute for Separation Science & Technology gained significant interest with his talk on Automatic Determination of Optimum Operating Concepts and Process Variables for Multi-Component Separations.
