From May 18-23, 2025 the 15th Fundamentals of Adsorption (FOA 15) conference took place in Porto, Portugal. The FOA conference, organized by the International Adsorption Society (IAS) is a unique and invaluable gathering for everyone interested in adsorption phenomena and related techniques since its inception in 1983. FOA is the major event in the area of fundamentals as well as applications of adsorption. The Adsorption and Nanoporous Materials Characterization group had a major presence and significant contributions at this meeting. Prof. Matthias Thommes was invited to give a plenary / tutorial lecture on ”Advances in the Textural Characterization of Nanoporous Materials by Physical Adsorption – A Tutorial”. Further contributions of our group reflected the wide range of research at the TVT. Dr. Carola Vorndran talked about “Advanced Characterization of Nanoporous Materials and Powders in the wet and Dry state: NMR Relaxometry and Gas Adsorption” (authors: Carola Vorndran, Lukas Sandner, Nicholas J. Corrente, Jincheng Xu, Jakob Söllner, Carlos Cuadrado Collados, Alexander V. Neimark, Matthias Thommes). Prof. Matthias Thommes presented recent research results on “Aspects of Gas Storage: Confined Geometry Effects on the Adsorption Behavior of Supercritical Fluids” (authors: Simon Eder, Jincheng Xu, Matthias Thommes). Lukas Sandner presented his poster on “Pore Size Analysis by Advanced NMR Relaxometry and Gas Adsorption” (authors: Lukas Sandner, Carola Vorndran, Matthias Thommes), while Jincheng Xu presented a poster on “Confined Geometry Effects on the Supercritical Adsorption Behavior of Hydrogen” (authors: Jincheng Xu, Matthias Thommes).
