Erlangen-Edinburgh School of Adsorption

Prof. Matthias Thommes (Institute of Separation Science and Technology (TVT), Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg) and Prof. Stefano Brandani (University of Edinburgh) are pleased to invite you to the Erlangen-Edinburgh School of Adsorption 2023, which will take place from September 5 – 8, 2023 in Erlangen (Germany).

The School is aimed to PhD students, PostDocs and researchers in academia and industry willing to gain a deeper insight of the fundamental aspects of adsorption science and engineering.

The School is based on over 15 years of experience in delivering lectures in adsorption courses at the MEng level. It is structured as an intensive 3.5-day programme including formal lectures, discussion periods and tutorials covering the following main topics:

  • Adsorption equilibrium – low and high pressure
  • Advanced physisorption characterization of nanoporous materials
  • Adsorption kinetics
  • Gas storage using adsorption
  • Advanced separation processes both in gas and liquid phases, e.g. adsorption processes including column dynamics and chromatography

The course includes an extended tour of the laboratories to combine theory with practice.

Details of the course schedule will be posted online at the befinning of August.

Lecturers:

Prof. Dr. Matthias Thommes (University Erlangen-Nürnberg)

Prof. Dr. Malte Kaspereit (University Erlangen-Nürnberg)

Prof. Dr. Stefano Brandani (University of Edinburgh)

Dr. Enzo Mangano (University of Edinburgh)

Guest lecturers from industry:
